Who Says?
Who came up with this list of what gift/stone/precious material goes with each anniversary? We’ve hunted high and low and come up with no authority of what goes with which year. We can find a mention of this idea stemming from a German Medieval tradition, so? We can also find a wikipeidia entry stating that some ‘…librarians in Chicago’ did it and then what? Did the librarians run away?
Tradition
Below is the traditional listing of which anniversary goes with what. Plus we’ve added Anniversary Flowers by Year for all you die-hard traditional types and another list of Anniversary by Gem Stone/Precious Metals (I think some Association of Jewellers had a hand in that one).
What we didn’t find
We didn’t find a list of: Anniversary Fish (Pollock for your first and Happy Shark for the seventh), Anniversary Sweets (it’s your tenth – is that Maltesers?) and, of course, Anniversary Socks.
Unique Anniversary Gifts
We say give them what they like and don’t get bogged down by some lists that someone has made up. Get inventive and GET PERSONAL!
