Gift BoxChristmas search terms now dominate the top 10 searches in the UK this month.

I was surprised by the high entry for ‘Gifts for Her’ we don’t usually see this term so high up in the search engines in October.

Top Ten Gifts Searches October 2009*

  1. Christmas Gifts
  2. Christmas Presents
  3. Gifts
  4. Gift Ideas
  5. Gifts for Men
  6. Christmas Gift Ideas
  7. Gifts for Her
  8. Christmas Present Ideas
  9. Presents for Men
  10. Personalized Gifts

Personalized Gifts – Personalized with a ‘z’ made its first entry last month and it is unusual to see a (perceived US) spelling so high up the charts. This may be down to a particular advertiser or bad spelling (this Top Ten is based on UK search terms only).

Christmas Ideas – I would say this term indicates that searchers are not looking to buy and most likely looking for good deals so expect voucher code sites and cashback sites to soak up some of this early-bird traffic.

Gifts for Her – It’s heartening to see that men are looking to buy this early.

Christmas Cards – Cards are still not featuring; are people leaving it too late?

Bubbling Under

Christening gifts and unusual gifts are bubbling under this month and I bet will reappear in the Top 10 in January.

What we Say “Read us next month to find out about what is searched for in gifts in peak season. Will ‘Gifts for Her’ still feature; will it go up the charts?”

*Brand terms are omitted from this report
